So many of us want to do things for "the right reason." But those are often based on other people's opinions. Whatever makes you work toward your goal is the right reason.

Hey everyone this is Kirby Hasseman for the Monday Minute.
When I was in high school (oh those many years ago) my Senior English teacher Fran Nelson said something that really stuck with me. We were talking about selecting a college. She said that whatever the real reason you chose, and stayed in college, was the right reason.
She said “People get hung up on the right reason to go to a school. The right reason is defined by others…and it’s never the reason you really stay there. If you select a school that is close to a mall in order to be happy…and that helps you stick with it and succeed…that THAT is the right reason.
It’s one of the wisest things I have ever heard said about human behavior.
When you are setting goals, starting a project, beginning exercise routines, picking a college, or starting a business…there is no wrong reason. There is only YOUR reason. Stop worrying about what you should be doing, which is almost always based on other people's reasons. Instead spend time thinking about why you really want to do it. What is the real reason? Whatever the real reason is, that pushes you toward your dreams and goals…that is the right reason.
